I love the Evoland style evolution, and the clever use of your computer as the central mechanic (with glitches, force quits, and so on). That said, I had a great time with this game. Because you don’t get that opportunity to be lulled into the cute exterior (something Undertale in particular excels at), the spookiness it’s going for doesn’t really get an opportunity to land. The problem is it tries a bit too hard at times to be creepy, resulting in your guard always being up because you’re expecting a jump scare, or a cute character to say something sinister, or whatever.
